BRENTFORD SKIPPER HITS OUT AT POINTS DEDUCTION FARCE AS FRANK’S MEN ARE DRAGGED INTO DROP FIGHT
-
CHRISTIAN NORGAARD has hit out at the Premier League's points deduction farce as Brentford face up to an uncertain relegation battle, accusing administrators of "messing with people's lives".
Yesterday, Everton saw their punishment for breaching financial fair play rules reduced from 10 points to six, enough to lift Sean Dyche's men above Brentford even before the latter's defeat at West Ham last night.
After a 4-2 thrashing at the London Stadium - the Bees' fifth defeat in six matches - Thomas Frank's side now sit just two places outside the relegation zone and have played a game more than Luton, who are five points worse off in 18th.
However, the picture has the potential to change again before the end of the season, with both Everton and 17th-placed Nottingham Forest facing fresh profit and sustainability charges.
"It's hard for me to comment on these deductions," said Brentford captain Norgaard. "Somewhere, someone is sitting with a calculator and putting in points, taking away points. I don't know. It's people's jobs, people's lives they're messing with.
