Jailed Briton set to be freed after $6bn US deal with Iran for hostages

A BRITISH citizen and four Americans held in Iran are set to be freed after the US agreed to unfreeze $6billion (£4.6billion) in Iranian funds to secure their release.
The Biden administration agreed to issue a waiver for international banks to transfer frozen Iranian money without incurring sanctions in exchange for the five prisoners.
Among them was reported to be Morad Tahbaz, a British-American conservationist of Iranian descent, and detained Americans Siamak Namazi and Emad Sharghi.
They had all been held on widely-criticised spying charges at Tehran's infamous Evin prison, which once held Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who was released last year.
Four of the five were released from prison and placed under house arrest last month, according to US officials.
