TEXAS SHOOTING 19 CHILDREN AND TWO TEACHERS DEAD IN LATEST US OUTRAGE
THE first children to be identified among the victims of the Texas school massacre were named today as US President Joe Biden demanded an end to the "carnage" caused by his nation's gun laws.
Eight year-old Uziyah Garcia, described by his grandfather as the "sweetest little boy that I've ever known", and another eight-year-old Ellie Garcia, were revealed by their families to have been killed during the assault on the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.
Other young victims named in the hours after the shooting, carried out by 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos, included 10-year-old boy Xavier Lopez and ten 10-year-old girls Makenna Elrod, Eliahana Torres and Amerie Jo Garza.
Amerie's grandmother Berlinda Irene Arreola said that Ramos told the class "you're going to die" before he began his massacre - shooting her granddaughter dead as she tried to call 911.
At least 21 people - 19 children and two teachers were killed. It is feared the death toll could rise.
Media reports also named Jose Flores, aged 10, as among the dead. He was a baseball fan with two brothers and a sister and was described by his uncle, Christopher Salazar, as "a very happy little boy" who "loved both his parents .. and loved to laugh and have fun."
