Pride in Place – or a political optical illusion

Have you noticed your local Labour MPs parading the headline “£20 million for your community”?

Chris Murray MP has been asking pupils how they'd spend £20m; Scott Arthur MP claims he has “submitted a bid for £20m for Wester Hailes” - probably a survey; Tracey Gilbert MP cheerfully promises community consultations.

This “impressive” headline is part of the UK Government's so-called Pride in Place programme and the Labour MP closest to Douglas Alexander will no doubt be crowned winner. Little hope for his predecessor, Ian Murray!
