No talk of defining moment from Clarke as Danes arrive
Edinburgh Evening News
|November 18, 2025
Clarke is not buying into the notion that Scotland's fate is written positively in the stars. Despite riding their luck at times throughout the campaign, Denmark's shock 2-2 draw to Belarus handed them a crucial automatic qualification lifeline.

Clarke has challenged his players to make their own slice of history.
"Not really, no," Clarke replied to being quizzed on whether he felt his time in charge of the national team has been building up to this moment. "I thought it was building up to the qualification for the last World Cup and it fell flat against Ukraine.
"When you get to my age, you just go from game-to-game and week-to-week. You get bored when I say that but it's really, really true.
"I'd like to get to a World Cup with my country-that's what I've always said. Again, going over old ground, I almost got there as a player, but I didn't. As a coach, last time, we almost got there but we didn't. Now we've got another chance."
Skipper Andy Robertson described the Danes as a team 'full of quality' but is confident Scotland can get the job done, with the Tartan Army told they can help carry the team over the line.
