M&S moves ahead with plans for landmark store Ali's Cave

Detailed plans have been lodged to turn a landmark city centre shop into a new supermarket.

Ali's Cave on Lothian Road closed its doors in August after serving the city for 37 years.
One of the Scottish capital's largest independent stores and a one-stop shop for household, DIY and seasonal products, the family-run business opened at Lothian Road in 1988, and was a well known haunt for Edinburgh's shoppers looking for everything and anything.
