Charity boss claims cuts would be ‘catastrophic’
Dumfries and Galloway Standard
|November 21, 2025
The boss of a homeless support charity in Dumfries and Galloway has waded into the furore over the council's proposed budget cuts for next year.
The local authority has released a list of proposed cuts as it struggles to balance the books and has been actively enouraging residents to provide feedback before it makes a decision - with many organisations and services already stepping forward to voice their concerns in a bid to protect their funding.
As the deadline for public reaction coming to close this Sunday, a local charity chief and manager of SHAX, Colin Callander-Bone, says it is imperative that people “take time to digest and understand the proposals and, more importantly, to consider the potential impact these proposals would have on their day-to-day life - and to submit their thoughts before the deadline.”
