Club celebrates record turnout at 26th Magersfontein Memorial Race

- DANIE VAN DER LITH

THE KIMBERLEY Harriers Running Club successfully hosted the 26th edition of the popular Magersfontein Memorial Race last week Saturday, with sponsorship from Idstone Farming and Jacobsdal Dairy.

This year's event saw a record number of participants tackle the challenging courses through the historic battlefield area outside Kimberley, in the Northern Cape.

Runners had the choice of a demanding 25km route or a 10km distance, with separate walking categories also well supported.

The tough, undulating terrain and warm summer conditions tested athletes yet produced some excellent performances, particularly from members of the host club.
