Woman fights off 'man with knife' on footpath

A FOOTPATH near the River Derwent in Derby has seen yet another shocking incident of violence after a woman was assaulted yesterday.

The incident occurred on the path behind the David Lloyd health club just off Riverside Road, Pride Park, at around 8.40am.

The victim, a woman in her 20s, was approached from behind by a man who grabbed and threatened her.

A struggle ensued between them and the woman managed to get away uninjured, while the perpetrator ran off in the direction of the city centre.

Police believe the man was carry ing a knife at the time of the attack.

The attacker is described as white, in his late 20s, about 5ft 7in tall, with a skinny build and ginger/blond hair. He had a pale face with red marks and blue eyes.

He was wearing a navy blue col oured coat with black jogging bottoms that had white stripes on them.
