Six of the best sees Brewers book place in second round
Derby Telegraph
|November 03, 2025
PROLIFIC Burton Albion ensured there would be no FA Cup upset at their expense with a scintillating six-goal win over lower ranked St Albans City.
Braces from Tyrese Shade, Charlie Webster and Fabio Tavares were more than enough to see off the Step 3 side and ensure a smooth passage into the second round, for which the draw will be televised live on TNT Sport during the Tamworth vs Leyton Orient telecast this evening.
Albion capitalised to score early in both halves but the game was not without its drama as St Albans hit the woodwork at 1-0, and the Brewers were indebted to Kamil Dudek in goal at times. But there was no doubting who the better team and most deserving winner was on the day.
The St Albans players singing 'Burton away ole ole' in special scenes after reaching the first round went viral but the reality of the task in hand soon dawned upon them.
To their credit, though, the visitors never stopped and neither did their fans on a day out they will never forget and one which did them and their club proud.
The visitors' team talk would have been along the lines of keeping it tight, doing nothing silly, silencing the crowd and working their way into the game the longer it went on, and yet within a mere matter of seconds it all went out of the window in the worst way possible.
To Burton's credit, it was a well-worked goal with some lovely football right from the off.
