Night market is returning to help light up city's start to Christmas
Derby Telegraph
|November 26, 2025
MORE than 60 artisan stalls will join a line of bustling independent shops this week as one of Derby's prime shopping streets welcomes the crowds for the city’s Christmas lights switch-on event.
-
Dozens of traders will set up shop on Sadler Gate tomorrow (November 27) from 5pm until 9pm, allowing spectators to gather and browse before the switch is flicked at 6.30pm.
Previous Sadler Gate markets have drawn hundreds to the characterful street, as well as the nearby Blacksmiths Yard, The Strand Arcade, Electric Daisy and The Old Bell Hotel.
The night market has been organised by the Love Sadler Gate group, made up of business owners in the street and headed by Paul Hurst, owner of The Old Bell Hotel, the team from Mr Shaw's House and Kay Samson, owner of the Tubo gift shop.
