Derbyshire police have confirmed that they were called to Cowsley Road, Chaddesden, on Wednesday after reports of a firearm being discharged in the area.

Forensics officers were also spotted at the scene, with unconfirmed reports from residents saying that a bullet hole had been found in a car on the street.

On Thursday morning, a police van and a police car remained inside a cordon on Cowsley Road near the junction with Anglesey Street, with pedestrians unable to access Cowsley Road from Hereford Road.

Derbyshire police have confirmed that officers were called to Cowsley Road on Wednesday after reports of an “altercation” and the “discharge of a firearm”.

"A spokesperson the force said: “The incident happened between about 12.25pm and 1.35pm and involved two men and one teenage boy.

“A 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and has been released on bail.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area whilst officers carry out their enquiries.

“This was an isolated incident and the investigation is ongoing.”
