Gloomy end to long away trip for Derby
Derby Telegraph
|September 23, 2025
DERBY fell short as they suffered an 18-15 away defeat against Rochdale in Regional 1 North West.
-
Approaching full time, Derby had a scrum five metres out from Rochdale’s line and Sam Tebbs picked up the ball to charge for the winning score. But the referee penalised Derby, leaving Steve Collins, Rochdale's standoff and director of rugby, to kick the ball out of play as the final whistle blew.
It completed a difficult day for Derby that began with a three-hour coach journey to Rochdale where heavy rainfall meant a very wet pitch.
