Eustace waiting to see how Roofe recovers

JOHN Eustace says Derby County are continuing to assess Kemar Roofe's injury as the striker remains at Pride Park Stadium.

Roofe was in the stands for the Rams' 2-0 win over Atromitos on Saturday, having not featured because of a calf problem he sustained against Walsall.

The former Leeds United and Rangers striker grabbed an assist in that 3-2 win as he laid on a goal for Kayden Jackson in an impressive demonstration of his linkup play.

Roofe had been invited back to the Rams this summer after making an impression on Eustace following his arrival on a free transfer last season.

Although he was sidelined with an injury, Eustace said Roofe became a key member in the dressing room during the fight against relegation.

Asked for the latest on Roofe’s situation, Eustace told the Derby Telegraph: “We are just having a look and seeing how he is.

“He pulled his calf in the Walsall game. For three weeks, he was getting fitter and fitter and looked a real presence.

“Let's just see at the end of the transfer window where we are.”
