Council announces £2m fund to upgrade town centres
Derby Telegraph
|August 04, 2025
TOWN centres in a part of Derbyshire are in for a makeover as a council announced an investment into bettering the lives of residents.
Erewash Borough Council has set out to put £2 million into better-looking town centres, starting with a £100,000 overhaul of Ilkeston’s street furniture.
The £2 million Erewash Investment Fund was approved by Erewash’s leader James Dawson and his senior team on the council executive.
Some £700,000 of the fund will be put into improving public services and the long-term future of the borough.
More street cleaning staff will be hired and the capacity of Erewash’s neighbourhood wardens service, which deals with issues such as fly-tipping, increased.
