Bent ‘shocked’ by Wrexham's issues in Championship
Derby Telegraph
|September 17, 2025
WREXHAM'S summer spending is coming under scrutiny and former Derby County and Burton Albion striker Darren Bent says he is “shocked” by the club's poor start to their Championship campaign.
-
Despite splashing out around £33m on new players, including Nathan Broadhead, Kieffer Moore and Conor Coady, Phil Parkinson's side sit 21st in the table, one point above the relegation zone, after five matches.
Wrexham have only four points on the board after registering a win, a draw and three defeats in their opening fixtures.
The Red Dragons’ most recent loss saw them beaten 3-1 at home by Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, with Hollywood co-owner Ryan Reynolds watching from the stands and former Burton striker Rumarn Burrell on target for Rangers for the first time.
Bent has now warned Wrexham's lowly position could soon cost the manager his job if results do not improve after describing the club's spending as “nuts”.
