TAXI DRIVER CUT OUT OF VAN AFTER HEAVY CRASH

A TAXI driver had to be “cut free” following a moerse accident with a Golden Arrow bus near Athlone on Monday night.
According to reports, the driver told a local neighbourhood watch member that before the taxi collided into a bus he tried to brake and pulled the handbrake, maar dit was te laat.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “Athlone police registered a reckless and negligent driving case for investigation following an accident on 19 May 2025, at about 7pm on the corner of Jan Smuts Drive and Klipfontein Road, Athlone, involving a minibus taxi and a bus.
