Heartbroken Retreat family claim 'full of nonsense' undertaker lost the money to cremate their mother

A HEARTBROKEN Retreat family say their pain after losing their mother turned into chaos after the funeral director they trusted allegedly left them stranded.A grieving daughter, who asked not to be named, told the Daily Voice that her mom passed away on February 1 and that they intended to have the funeral during that week.

The hartseer dogter explained: “My sister and my mom’s sister paid a monthly policy to JV funerals, and the day after my mom passed, the owner, Jonathan Van der Heever, came to our home, but he reeked of alcohol.

“He came to fetch my mom’s ID, but afterwards we didn’t hear from him, and his phone was off.

“Then on Tuesday evening, another guy came with two guys, and they had my mom’s ID and a hospital form.
