Court dismisses MK case
Daily Voice
|August 01, 2025
THE Constitutional Court in Johannesburg has dismissed the case brought by the Mkonto We Sizwe (MK) Party challenging President Cyril Ramaphosa’s decision to appoint a nonmember of Parliament as Minster of Police.
The decision was made on Thursday after MK brought an urgent application challenging Ramaphosa’s move to place Police Minister Senzo Mchunu on special leave and appoint Professor Firoz Cachalia in an acting role.
MK argued that the move was unconstitutional, flagging serious legal and procedural violations.
