Jamie's blast from past proves a haka hoodoo

- ADAM HATHAWAY

JAMIE GEORGE revealed he was the man behind England's epic response to the haka which set the tone for an historic victory against New Zealand at a delirious Twickenham.

England claimed on the eve of the game they had nothing planned for the All Blacks' traditional war cry, but George changed all that later after a pow-wow with head coach Steve Borthwick and captain Maro Itoje.

In an echo of their 2019 World Cup semi-final win against the Kiwis in Japan, England lined up in a reverse arrowhead with the oldest squad member, George, nearest the visitors on one side and the youngest, Henry Pollock, on the other.

Twickenham predictably went bananas and, in another echo of 2019 under Eddie Jones, England delivered the most significant result of their head coach's reign.
