TROUBLE GLAZERS

20 years of hurt under American owners
THE most toxic club ownership in English football is two decades old and counting.
Since 2005, Manchester United and the Glazer family have gone together like oil and water.
And it has resulted in the long and painful demise of one of the biggest football clubs on the planet.
United’s current plight, which has seen them endure their worst season in Premier League history, is not the fault of the players or recent managers including Jose Mourinho, Louis van Gaal and Ruben Amorim.
Co-owners INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will never win a popularity contest in the red half of Manchester, but have been saddled with the failings of others before them.
The finger of blame for the collapse of a footballing institution is pointed in the direction of Florida and Maryland where the billionaire Glazers have remained out of sight but never out of mind when it comes to the club's seething supporters.
