Norris stays cool as title win he has dreamed of comes into view

- BY DANIEL MOXON

THE PROMISED LANDO

MENTALITY could be the dif- ference between being crowned Formula One world champion this weekend and falling short.

As a four-time title winner, Max Verstappen has nothing at all to prove on that front.

But Lando Norris, who has for many years been refreshingly open about his mental health, has been unfairly painted as fragile as a result.

A perception that has some people predicting a final-day collapse in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, as the Brit enters the event with a 12-point lead over Verstappen.

While his mood does swing with more volatility than that of his laidback teammate Oscar Piastri, Norris knows he has what it takes to get the job done.

And, at 26, he also knows there will be more opportunities, even if he does fall short this time.

“I’m the one at the top,” said Norris.

“I’ll do my best to stay there for another few days. But if it doesn’t go my way, I’ll try again next year.
