It's 50 years since the Arkle colours grabbed Cup glory
JIM DREAPER was only 22 when he filled the giant shoes of his father Tom, trainer of 26 Cheltenham Festival winners including three Gold Cups with the legendary Arkle.
Yet within two years, he had enjoyed his own turn in the spotlight when Ten Up plundered the meeting's blue riband event, 50 years ago this week.
Ten Up had been an outstanding novice the previous season, suffering just one defeat in a campaign which climaxed with victory in the Sun Alliance Chase.
