US troops 'could go to Ukraine'
DONALD Trump refused to rule out putting American troops on the ground in Ukraine as part of any eventual peace deal with Russia.
It came as he shook hands warmly with Volodymyr Zelensky - in a stark contrast to the frosty reception the Ukrainian leader received on his last White House visit.
The US President signalled what could become a dramatic shift in Washington's foreign policy as Europe's leaders - including PM Sir Keir Starmer - joined Mr Zelensky in Washington yesterday.
"We'll let you know that, maybe later today," the US President said when pressed directly on whether he would authorise a military presence under a postwar agreement.
