Rory: I need Masters amnesia

- ANDREW GAMBLE

RORY MCILROY will want to forget the horror practice round of 81 he endured last week ahead of the US Open.

But the bigger picture for the Grand Slam conqueror will be to get his Masters win out of his mind altogether.

McIlroy endured a roller-coaster final day at Augusta to become just the sixth player in history to achieve a career Grand Slam.

Burdened by the weight of chasing the elusive Masters win, the Northern Irishman ended a Major drought that extended all the way back to the 2014 PGA Championship.

After edging Justin Rose in a dramatic play-off, McIlroy was backed by many to contend for PGA Championship glory at Quail Hollow.
