Scheff back at top table

DEFENDING champion Scottie Scheffler opened with a bogey-free 68 to lead Americas early bid to win an eighth consecutive Major.

With Jon Rahm, the last European to win a Major here in 2023, captain Luke Donald has challenged his team to end the run in Ryder Cup year.

But world No.1 Scheffler (right) nailed a 62-foot birdie on the fourth hole and another from 40 feet on. But everyone starts on level par.
