Baby joy Shanice bags a first

STRIKER Shanice van de Sanden celebrated becoming a mother with her first goal of the season.

Liverpool's Holland ace missed the Continental Cup defeat by Manchester United after her partner gave birth to a girl on Tuesday.

But Van de Sanden made up for lost time by scoring Liverpool's second against Brighton just before the break.

Liverpool manager Matt Beard said: "Shanice is an infectious character. What you see on the pitch is what she's like day to day.

"We are all delighted for her and her family!" Van de Sanden struck after Gemma Bonner had celebrated a landmark day of her own with the opening goal.
