LATEST FACELIFT FOR VOLVO'S FAMILY-FOCUSED 7-SEATER MAKES IT A LITTLE SHARPER

There are few cars which have struck a chord with buyers quite as well as the Volvo XC90.

Unashamedly family-focused, the seven-seater has been a mainstay of the firm's range, with the second-generation car, introduced in 2014, facelifted many times.

Now Volvo has introduced a facelifted 2025 version to keep it in competition with rivals, but has it worked? We've tried it out.

WHAT'S NEW?

The new XC90 gets a sharper, sleeker design but still looks very familiar. More changes are inside, with a far larger infotainment screen, similar to that in Volvo's new electric EX90.

The good news is its practicality remains the same in the cabin. With all seats in place, you've got 262 litres of space, leaping to 680 litres with the rearmost row folded away. The boot is easy to access, while the doors open wide giving good entry and exit.

UNDER THE BONNET?

There are only two engine options, a 2.0-litre mild-hybrid, badged 'B5', and the plugin hybrid 'T8' car we're testing. It's the more powerful of the two, but does bump up XC90's price. With a full charge, you can get up to 44 miles of electric-only running.
