I need tips to get pay rise

WHAT are your best tips for negotiating a pay rise? I've been at my company for a few years now and feel that I am working harder than my job description entails.

I struggle to live within my means and I have a suspicion that those in similar roles are on a higher salary.

What's the best way to discuss this with my employer and are there any tried and tested techniques? How do I enquire about my colleagues' pay.
