Mr Relegation's track record is quite simply unbeatable
-
MORE than 5,000 players have appeared at least once in the Premier League - a staggering number - and NONE have been relegated more times than Hermann Hreidarsson.
The big Icelandic defender is fondly remembered by fans of his former clubs, but that does not disguise the fact he finished in the topflight drop zone with five of them.
His roll of dishonour reads: Crystal Palace (1998), Wimbledon (2000), Ipswich (2002), Charlton (2007), Portsmouth (2010).
While nobody can surpass his record of five, someone can equal it. Nathan Blake was relegated with four different clubs but given the Icelandic flavour to this week's column, he escapes further mention.
