Dean's spot on again to deny Slot

LIVERPOOL can take some comfort in the fact the winner of the Community Shield hasn’t gone on to win the big one in May for the last six years.

But this will still irk Reds boss Arne Slot, suffering more Wembley woe after he said beforehand that he wanted to get a winning feeling here following a Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle in March.

Yet it was Crystal Palace joy at the national stadium for the second time in 85 days after beating Manchester City to lift the FA Cup back in May.

Dean Henderson was a penalty hero that day too as he denied Omar Marmoush. Here, he was at it again but this time in a shootout to help Palace upset champions Liverpool.

It was a tip of the cap from the shot-stopper when he pulled off a great save to deny Alexis Mac Allister but those watching should have been doffing their headwear out of respect for the keeper. It was a fine save.
