DECK the halls with boughs of holly! They won't have any berries - those usually come out in late November - but for retailers, toy brands and very organised people, the holiday season has started.

To get into the swing of things, I head over to the Business Design Centre in London's Islington, where dozens of retailers are showing off their top picks for this year's Christmas shopping.

The festive atmosphere hits me as I walk through the doors. There's a picture-perfect Santa Claus waiting to greet me, an entourage of elves by his side.

I try and shake off memories of the summer holidays - last week, if I recall.
