Elliott's dream double guarantees back-to-back finals for Carsley kids
HARVEY ELLIOTT blasted England into Saturday’s European Championship final with two stunning second-half goals.
In a tightly-contested semi-final, the Liverpool midfielder proved the difference.
He gave the Young Lions the lead, then stepped up to restore it with a magnificent strike after Holland equalised and with extra time looming.
It put Lee Carsley’s side on course for a successful defence of the title they won two years ago in Georgia.
Elliott's double took his tournament tally to four in five games and underlined his status as one of the stand-out players in Carsley’s talented and resilient squad.
In the searing and debilitating 33 degree heat of Bratislava’s National Stadium, England were forced to dig deep physically and mentally.
Carsley’s side, who have grown into the tournament to peak at the right time, will return here on Saturday where they can create fresh history.
