Mikey comes good on his big promise to bring back Rovers glory days

MIKEY LEWIS admitted he was out to create a legacy when he signed a new five-year contract ahead of Hull KR's playoff campaign.

On Saturday night he delivered, in spectacular fashion, on rugby league's biggest stage at Old Trafford.

The livewire halfback, 24, inspired Rovers to a commanding victory to dethrone Wigan, completing a treble with the Challenge Cup and League Leaders’ Shield.

Having prevented last year's inaugural Rob Burrow Award winner Bevan French from touching down with a last-ditch effort on 12 minutes, Lewis then opened the scoring with a darting run and paved the way for an historic win.

“Words can't describe how I'm feeling right now,” said the Rovers star. “I'm proud of the boys, this playing group and the belief that we've built. It's been building for a couple of years. We fell short last year against Wigan and we came back for redemption and got the job done.”
