TOM DASCOMBE went back to his roots to claim the biggest prize of the Berkshire Winter Million festival's opening day as Hot Fuss landed the Fitzdares Sovereign Handicap Hurdle at Windsor.

The former jump jockey (right) is better known for his training exploits on the Flat, but showed he can turn his hand to the winter code as 10-1 chance Hot Fuss and David Bass got the better of 85-40 favourite Wilful by three lengths.
