‘Special moment’ for Wes as Ipswich give Lamps a wake-up call
-
IPSWICH put down a statement of intent last night as they beat runaway leaders Coventry for the second time in just over three weeks.
Jack Clarke opened the scoring after 72 minutes and Wes Burns first goal since May 2024 doubled the visitors’ lead 11 minutes later.
Burns was making just his second appearance since suffering an ACL injury against Liverpool in January. Delighted Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna said: “The second goal was one of the moments of the season, a special moment for Wes, a brilliant moment for the medical staff that have worked with him.
“Even as a manager there are some goals that are more special and Wes scoring that one in the last game of the year was a top moment.
“The win gives the group a bit more belief in themselves - we know we work hard and we work well but big results can validate it a little bit more”
