ANTHONY YARDE battled through a badly bloodied nose and late punches but could not take his third shot at a world title.

The Brit, 34, put up a battling show against WBC light-heavyweight champion David Benavidez.

But the powerful and lightning quick American of Mexican heritage was too good and forced a stoppage in the seventh round of a fight he controlled after a slow first round.

He put Yarde down in the seventh but the Hackney-based star got back up, despite blood streaming from his nose following a barrage of punches.

But before he could even get to the end of the round, Yarde was again subjected to some heavy artillery from Benavidez.
