Dream debut for Knibbs as he moves on from Royals chaos

- BY MIKE WALTERS

HARVEY KNIBBS went from a rainbow of chaos at Reading to a concerto of bedlam at Charlton - and it was the most perfect introduction since Tinder.

Among seven debutants in the Addicks’ lineup, supersub Knibbs and his boisterous new flock in SE7 was a match made in heaven.

For 93 minutes, it looked as if Charlton's return to the Championship after a five-year intermission would be a tale of young, gifted and blank.

But Knibbs (right), who scored 16 goals amid the chaos of Reading's hated former owner Dai Yongge being run out of town last season, sprang from the bench to become an instant hit at the Valley as his 16-minute cameo proved a triumph of speed-dating.

Watford's ball-watching at a set piece was asking for trouble but £2million Knibbs, who had only joined the Addicks payroll a week earlier, proved his poacher's instincts in the box had not deserted him during the Royals' existential crisis.
