Boxer Mike Tyson really did tear strips off Evander Holyfield, when things turned ugly in the thick of their Las Vegas fight in 1997.

After trading blows, Tyson went into full maul mode, below, and munched a massive chunk out of his bitter rival's ear. The bruiser was slapped with a one-year ban and whopping $3million (£1.8million) fine. Gnaw-ty boy.
MIGHTY HOOPLA:
One incident basketball player Dennis Rodman, below right, “swishes” he could erase from his resume took place in 1997. Midway through a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Chicago Bulls star tripped over cameraman Eugene Amos and then slam-dunked his foot into the chap’s groin. He netted a suspension and paid a reported $200k (£150k) settlement.
