CARLOS ALCARAZ can become the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open this week.
But first he must break new ground and find a way to silence a raucous Aussie crowd when he faces home hero Alex de Minaur if he is to make the semifinals.
The No.1 seed (left) beat Tommy Paul 7-6 6-4 7-5 on Rod Laver Arena to reach his third straight quarterfinal at Melbourne Park.
“To complete the career Grand Slam is something amazing to do, to be able to be the youngest that have done it before is even better,” said Alcaraz, 22, who bettered the record held by Bjorn Borg and Boris Becker by reaching a 14th Slam quarterfinal before turning 23.
