Starmer's giving Labour bad name
Daily Star Sunday
|August 03, 2025
THERE was some pretty damning news for Keir Starmer and the extent of his lack of popularity this week.
-
No child in England and Wales was given the same name as the prime minister last year.
Not a single one.
Until then the name had been reasonably popular. In 1998 more than 70 Keirs were born. In 2023 four babies were named Keir.
But last year. Zero. None. Nada.
Impressive stuff. The PM has done for the name Keir what Hitler did for Adolf.
Now, the decline could be down to it not being a particularly fashionable name.
As a teenager Starmer apparently did not like his first name, saying that while growing up he wished his parents "called me Dave or Pete".
