Volvo has adjusted its electrification plans to make more hybrids over coming years, but that hasn't stopped the Swedish brand continuing its development of battery-powered vehicles. The next being the luxurious ES90. Based on the EX90's platform, it is packed with features and technology, so what's it like?

WHAT'S NEW?

The ES90 has hints of a saloon car and elements of an SUV. With a 3.1-metre long wheelbase, it's no compact vehicle, but the length really boosts legroom in the back.

A rival for the BMW i5 and Audi A6 e-tron, it also goes up against the Polestar 4 - a car with which it shares some features.

UNDER THE BONNET?

Ours is a Single Motor Extended Range car in a range that tops out with the Ultra Twin Motor Performance which offers the best acceleration and a range of 435 miles. Ours does up to 401. On a charge speed of 310kW you should manage 10 to 80% in a 22 minutes.

WHAT'S IT LIKE TO DRIVE?
