Jay's off the mark as promotion chase hots up

JAY RODRIGUEZ has scored plenty of better goals but his first for Wrexham could prove the most vital for his latest club.

The striker – who will be 36 this summer – scuffed his rebounded saved penalty between the legs of Stockport goalkeeper Corey Addai.

It was a tradesman’s goal that capped a workmanlike display from Wrexham, who created few thrills.

But it was enough to give them their 12th 1-0 victory of the season in a niggly, noisy affair which included 11 yellow cards plus a late red for Stockport defender Brad Hills.
