STOKES AND CO EASE UP AS WINDIES FIGHT BACK

- NEIL MOXLEY

Bazball stalls

'BAZBALL' took a back seat but England still regained their grip on the second Test.

Ben Stokes' batters - so used to throwing caution to the wind - were forced into a rearguard action as West Indies sensed a famous fightback.

Yes, it was all change at Trent Bridge in more ways than one as the hosts so dominant at Lord's needed to reset.

After a first-day onslaught appeared to have put them in the driving seat, the tourists' defiant response meant they had to do it all again.

England had to withstand a shift in the weather conditions and a controversial switching of the ball to push themselves within sight of a total that may yet see them over the line after they conceded a 41-run firstinnings deficit.

They were by no means defensive but gone was the carefree abandon with which they started the game.
