Arfield tells how Bairns deserved comeback win

- FRASER MACKIE AT FIR PARK

WELL EARNED

SCOTT ARFIELD has a Motherwell insider who can't stop raving about Jens Berthel Askou's entertainers.

And the Falkirk veteran was a believer after watching them run rings around the Bairns for 45 minutes.

But Arfield was one of the ace cards in wily John McGlynn's successful plan to play spoiler in the second half.

The 36-year-old substitute executed to perfection, netting a 79th-minute winner as Falkirk leapfrogged their hosts in the Premiership table. Arfield has heard ex-Rangers teammate Andy Halliday harp on about Motherwell's magic play, and it was there for all to see for 45 dazzling minutes.

Yet those eye-catching efforts meant nothing when Calvin Miller then Arfield scored after the break.

Arfield said: “I am mates with Andy Halliday, who raves about the ethos and how their manager wants to play. And that's coming from a guy who hasn't played any minutes in about six or seven games!

“That tells you a lot about the philosophy there and, in the first half, it was all on show.
