Judge rules that Biffa was wrong to think recycling scheme coudn't be axed
A JUDGE has ruled against a waste firm that claimed £51.4million in compensation from the Scottish Government over its doomed deposit return scheme.
Lord Sandison dismissed the Biffa Waste Services compensation claim over a policy championed by former Green Party MSP Lorna Slater.
The firm instructed lawyers to go to the Court of Session in Edinburgh. It sued the Scottish ministers for damages of £51.4million.
The firm was set to be a key commercial partner in the environmental initiative by delivering infrastructure for it to function.
