Christian's bay ready to dig Deep for Donny win and reach out for Great Yorkshire Chase jackpot

- BY GARRY OWEN

DEEP CAVE (3.0) looks primed to dig out victory in the competitive Great Yorkshire Chase at Doncaster.

Christian Williams excels in these big handicaps and has unearthed another cast-iron contender.

The gelding was a winning novice over fences in France, only to initially struggle over hurdles in the UK.

But the seven-year-old ended his career over timber by routing Timmy Tuesday in a warm Aintree handicap last April.

The bay was expected to thrive back over fences and was pitched right into a Class Two at Bangor.

That was a smart call as he powered to victory from The Doyen Chief come November. He excelled when coming late and fast to touch off Leave Of Absence in the Ascot Silver Cup a month ago.

The Welsh raider has a touch of class so should continue his relentless rise off just a 2lb higher mark.

KICÓUR LA (12.55) looks another smart prospect for Ben Pauling in the River Don Novices' Hurdle.

The gelding oozed potential when surging clear from Island Bridge on his timber bow at Leicester just over two months ago.

He stayed on the upgrade over 2m 4f when dispatching Arcadian Star back there last month.

The six-year-old was not stopping late on heavy ground so ought to land his first Grade Two upped in trip.

FEET OF A DANCER (1.30) can waltz to victory for Paul Nolan in the Yorkshire Rose Hurdle.

The mare got right back on track by hosing up from Mozzies Sister in a Punchestown Listed contest two months ago.

She then found only the talented Wodhooh too good in Grade One company at Leopardstown.
