Flo was burdened by price tag just like Chermiti but his goal return was more than decent..I hope the big lad can go on to score more than 100 in blue shirt
IT might be very early days but it seems Youssef Chermiti is splitting the room already where the Rangers support is concerned.
I get the criticism and I could hear it with my own ears at Hampden on Sunday after he missed a couple of big chances against Celtic.
But I felt for the young man at the same time. He's under a lot of pressure because of circumstances completely outwith his control.
He didn't ask Rangers to spend somewhere between £8-10million to get him out of Everton in the summer. But he's the guy who gets it in the neck for the size of the transfer fee.
It playing on his mind. I could see it at the weekend just as I've seen it in some previous performances.
At times, he looks like he's got the weight of the world on his shoulders. At others, almost as if he's trying too hard.
Twas hoping, after he scored his first goal for the club against Kilmarnock, that he would kick on as if the shackles had come off.
But Chermiti is still stuck in the same tough moment and what he needs most of all right now is for his teammates to help him through it.
He will be aware of the expectation. When any club splashes out big money for anew No.9 there’s an onus on the player to score goals that win matches.
That's what Chermiti and Bojan Miovski have been brought in to do and so far they've only managed three goals between them. They'll know themselves they have to start delivering on a more regular basis.
Chermitiis the main focus because of the size of his fee - coupled with the fact that he's been brought in to replace the goals that were lost when Cyriel Dessers, Hamza Igamane and Vaclav Cerny moved on in the summer.
‘And I hope the big lad goes on from here to score more than 100 goals in a blue shirt.
