THIS might be one of stupidest letters you have ever received but I'm asking your advice anyway because my dilemma is causing me a lot of stress.

Too vain for specs so I'm ignoring my appalling eyesight

I'm 54 years old and, over the past year or so, I've noticed my eyesight is becoming gradually weaker whenever I have to read something. These days I need to look very closely to make out any words, so I suppose it's fair to say I need reading glasses.

My entire family is now wearing glasses but my issue is that I think I'll look really stupid in them. So I try my best to ignore the problem, carry on squinting at every bit of text I have to read and avoid going to the opticians for an eye test.
