TOO SOON TO JUDGE MAROON

Beating Gers would not make a statement this early in season says Del

- BY DARREN JOHNSTONE

DEREK McINNES insists a rare win over Rangers wouldn't mean Hearts are in for a memorable season - and reckons the league table come January will be a better indicator.

Jambos fans are keen to see how far their team have really come since recruiting 11 new summer signings and making McInnes their new boss when they travel to Ibrox tomorrow.

They head west with optimism as Hearts sit second top, behind Celtic on goal difference after four games.

And with new investor Tony Bloom having a 10-year title plan, all eyes will be on the Gorgie side as they look to beat Rangers for the first time in 19 outings.

But McInnes insists he will not be getting carried away if his team manage to claim a statement win against a Gers side misfiring under new boss Russell Martin.

He said: “Even this early on in the season I think it’s too early to judge teams. It’s normally the first couple of rounds of fixtures you can maybe get a fair assessment of where people are and where teams are at.
